Happy Birthday to James Kung

Anybody who knows James, knows what a big heart he has! He has been a part of our family for over 17years. Jan. 9th is his 39th birthday. We were able to throw a surprise birthday for him, thanks to my Dad and Fran for having us all, and fixing all the fixins! Sorry no pictures. James is a master of most anything he tries. He is funny, and if he likes you, he spoils you. He loves you, if you cook for him! He likes men who challenge him, like Wayne, who is quick witted, and gives it right back to him. Or Leon, and David -who are bright, or he can make fun of, and they can beat him and fantasy football, or jokes. He loved my sister. He met my boys when they were active boys, so he had another childhood with them, and they laughed at his jokes. He went to PTA and all of Stone Mountain elementary functions and even tried to take over once as the room -MOM! He remebers every thing the boys said- it is amazing. He adores Joel, who he met when Joel was about 19months old and loved telling stories to. Joel has him wrapped around his finger. He hung out with Pat and tried to be a part of every rabbit building cage, tree house, and birthday they had. He even had a big scuba trip he left for Joel’s Appendicitis. He loved all of Brian’s A’s, and tried to take credit. He loved all of Kevin’s questions, and hiscute, happy nature. He likes helping Jimmy, because no one else does, and he is so honest and appreciative, and doesn’t mind expressing it. He has friends he loves to argue with- but not real arguements, cause he is strong on his beliefs, so you can’t REALLY argue with him. He likes small churches that hug him when he comes in, and are positive. He hates junk mail and junk calls, putting it mildly. He hates dirt, except he has gotten a little better with his new love for dogs.He used to keep his surroundings clean, minimal, and had windex and clorox clean up in every room. I guess I have de-sensitized him. He has changed me, my Dad, and my kids in that we no longer open junk mail or credit card offers. We don’t pay late fees. James is a whiz at making money. His new project is converting Hunan’s Restaurant into a multi-complex to rent out to 3-4 rentals, possibly Eckerds, and a doctor’s office, or some UGA related business. He conquers all challenges. He used to be sick all the time, when I first met him.He constantly worried about money. He started exercising and drinking water,( he never does anything half way). He looks the picture of health now, and loves carpentry. He builds, tears down and remodels in a clean, more efficient way. He can put in new hardwood floors, by himself in a day. His new best friend is Jodi, who has an architect degree from Ga. Tech, and is Brian’s girlfriend. She has a head for design, started by her grandfather, who is a great carpenter. James has two helper’s Jimmy, who is always willing to help, if you come get him. Kevin, is a favorite, and now works at Home Depot and is getting the carpenter bug too.
Sometimes I see friends of James who get jealous of his appearance of leisure that just makes money and success. They don’t know the over-stressed, over-achiever that some of us see. I am on GO maybe 10-12hrs. or more a day. My brain shuts down after that. Also, I didn’t start thinking of how to make money when I was 9yrs. old. I was playing with a Betty Crocker play oven, or how to horn in on my brothers games. Financial success has to be an obsession.
