Just another year
Friday, September 9th, 2005Yes, I am a lucky woman. I am 52 today. I get to live, eat, enjoy my health, work, look at the sky ( I love the sky) Who cannot believe in God looking up in the sky. Of course, you know everyone does believe, sometimes intellectuals just have a hard time.
Today was the best day. It was a fantastic day! My new friends, the 6 students I am responsible for in the hospital got to do so many things! They put in a difficult catheter in a lady who really needed it. They were very patient, and did so well! They gave all the medicines for their patients. They helped access a very sick ( very tall, strong looking man ) who had a port in his arm and needed blood. He really did not feel like 6 students in his room…but they had his blood going before they left. I think he was glad we were there. They put in a feeding tube, and cleaned horrible wounds on a lady that didn’t speak. She had to be taken off her coumadin because it was causing her blood vessels to break and developing big wounds. So,then she had a big stroke. Her son stayed with her, he was very nice.
Then we joined two other nursing groups of ours and their instructors, who are great…and we ate at O’Charleys. We were celebrating the finishing of their summer quarter, but somehow my birthday was a big party! How sweet! I realy don’t like a lot of attention. My regular job got me a present and hugs too.
Yeah, the world is right…nurses are angels! I am being happy, I usually think about the people missing on my birthday. I guess my Dad is right…I just got to share them for a while. So, I guess I will enjoy my health ( and try to take care of it). And enjoy the people I have around me now.
Wow, check out that moon tonight.
