Favorite Things

Friday, November 28th, 2003

If your tuning in for the first time–you might want to just read the first entry at the bottom or go to the Italy tour pictures—and bypass my rambling.
Those of you who know me know I love to care for others. My boys are grown and don’t need me anymore ( atleast they don’t need my advice). It is a good thing their are others who need me :l
My favorite TV shows : no surprise—MARTHA STEWART LIVING. I learn to cook everyday, and get motivated from her. Stupid CBS put her on at 3am, so I hear my little vcr recording her while I sleep. #2. AS THE WORLD TURNS ( because my MOM watched it 25 years ago)#3 Sunday Morning. Lately, I have been liking the Ellen Degeneras show.
I like being a nurse, but when I am there it is so busy and stressful. I have always been a lucky nurse. I think I relate to people first, and then to the job of nursing second. Therefore, sometimes I get behind. However, I have been an RN for 26 years, so it comes easy to me. I think the best part of me is the mothering part, and nursing is caring. You do so much that no one even sees. Where I work now is not my favorite job, but they need me, so I will stay a while.
I used to be a Trauma Nurse in a big teaching hospital. I like little ER’s too. In nursing you can move around. I have 15 years before I can retire! Hope I can keep up.
I love my Boys Brian, Kevin, and Joel. They are so bright and funny. Brian is the best about calling me and helping with family stuff. I love my house, dogs, and neices and nephews, my brother n law(Arthur), Nevim. I love my truest friend, James Kung. He is the funniest man alive. He has helped me get it together, get organized, and just enjoy life. My friends hold me together.
I love movies !!!!!! always with popcorn ( even though I really don’t think popcorn is good for you).
I have lost some important people in my life, too bad, I still feel like I need them. My sister was just too good to lose. She would talk to me for hours about my kids. You just don’t find those people easily I guess.
Favorite movie? Hard to say, depends on the mood. I guess, today…Moulin Rogue.
Favorite thing I have done lately? David and Avery ( nephews came to see me) and you guessed it GOING TO ITALY!
Pictures for today:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Arthur Wingfield’s Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, November 23rd, 2003

Happy Birthday to Arthur Wingfield. Arthur Wingfield is one of the greatest persons I have ever known. He works at the Durham Tabacco Plant, that is mostly operating out of Mebane, NC. Arthur is responsible for keeping the computers talking, and maintence of the machines. He also designs new holders for new big machines they get. He has been with them for years. When my sister was sick, he stayed with her, went to work when I could go up there. The company kept his job, told him not to worry, collected money for him ( every week) and showed up at her (SALLY’S) celebration of life. They weren’t stupid, they held on to a good employee.
I am sorry for people that do not know Arthur, he is always looking on the positive side of everything. He loves his job, and the guys he works with. If you drive by his house, you will see him outside (course, his land is hard to find…he cleared the road himself). He likes to just fart around the house. He is a fabulous cook.He has a green thumb, and grilling is his ART. He thought me lots of things, especially the love of cactus. Arthur is the son of Joyce Wingfield, who died of cancer. His father, Julian is married to Nevim ( from Turkey, a retired dentist). Arthur’s sister, Wanda Miyata, moved to Japan to teach, and never moved back. Arthur and I used to cook for each other when Sally was sick for 3 years. He loved Sally, his dog Angus, and his cat Miss Elly. They are still with him. Do you want to see a picture? Sure… Happy Birthday to a Real Man, they are hard to find…

My Dad’s Uncle Died

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003

My Dad( Charles Clayton Studstill),(Daddy) grew up in Eastman Ga. or in a area close to there. His Dad, C.B. Studstill( Charlie Bill) my Grandfather, I always called Bam. - his father was James D. Studstill 111, Anyway, he had three sons= CB, Guy, Ralph, and one daughter, Margaret….Paul Studstill was a pricipal in that town, was a coach for mens and womens basketball, and before that was a basketball star himself. He was well liked. I have been to several funerals lately, I guess, so I did not find it depressing. I thought, how cool, so many people there 90yrs. to teens talking about what a great person he was. Is there anything else? I don’t think so. He never married, he never had kids. At his funeral they had a picture of a basketball team with him sitting in the center, holding the ball.
Somehow he got throught life without messing up other peoples life, etc., etc…

It was neat to see a lot of relatives( Studstill’s). So many huge gravesites. One day they will take up so much land. No one seemed to be in a hurry to leave. We walked around and talked about the different couples-kids, etc.
I felt sorry for myself, wishing I had known him better. He was quiet, calm, never lost his temper, and liked people. What a great legend. He was close with his sister, Margaret. She said to me as I was leaving…you have been taking care of everybody too. What a compliment…to put me on her level.
I look young for my age, and I can be imature, but I think I went through the stages of life better than others. I never liked the out of control drinking, drugs, smoking- and I never wanted to stay in my teens. I always had a little sister that looked up to me, and that was important. My brothers, were always needing me. Then, I became a nurse. However, friends smoked pot, cocaine- and seemed to have miserable lives, disappointing others around them. I think that influenced me. As a nurse, you see lots of miserable, unhealthy people. Anyway, when I had my kids, I knew, I was born to be a MAMMA. Now, if I could just let go a little bit. :)

I like to cook for people and I love Turkey, Dressing, and canned cranberry sauce( not homemade) Talking about food, makes me wonder how I would look as a turkey if I don’t start dieting. Email me with your recipes for dressing or whatever….

Good people finish last? What is that saying? Good guys? Some days after work I am tired and I wonder who ar the good guys? Speak of feeling weird…Good things seem to happen to bad people.
I used to live in this town…That is not suprising, since we moved 42 times growing up.That is another story. We were weird. Maybe that is why I am…on with the story.

Small-town mayor wins Georgia Lottery

DAWSON, Ga. (AP) - The mayor of this small town won $500,000 US in the Georgia Lottery a month before his trial on charges of insurance fraud and forgery.
Robert Albritten went to Atlanta on Monday and picked up his prize, worth about $300,000 after taxes, said lottery spokesman J.B. Landroche.
Albritten is scheduled to go on trial next month on 19 counts. The owner of a funeral home, he allegedly sold life insurance to elderly nursing home residents, many of whom may not have realized what they were purchasing. Insuring people without their knowledge is against Georgia law.
Earlier this year, Albritten pleaded guilty to drunken driving after a wreck that hospitalized a woman. His blood alcohol level was 0.167 per cent, more than twice the legal limit.
He has been mayor since 1991 in the town of 5,500 people in southwest Georgia. He was re-elected last fall despite the drunken driving and fraud charges.
Albritten has refused to comment on his legal problems and did not return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

Lottery officials said he won the largest prize possible in the 10th Anniversary Instant Game. The odds of winning $500,000 are one in 480,000, Landroche said.
OH, well what the hell. Some people don’t even try. I try to be a GOOD MOM, but on lots of days I would nag, nag, and nag. I don’t see things the way my kids do. I worry that they will be influenced by bad people or be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mostly, drugs, and stupid (oops…there I go again with my nagging). Here is a candle for all you who need to stop nagging and stop worrying. My goal this week.
